| Ajisen (China) Holdings Limited (“Ajisen (China)”, stock code: 0538) is one of China’s largest fast casual food restaurant chain operators and the sole franchisee of Japan’s Ajisen branded restaurant on the mainland and in Hong Kong. The Company’s shares have been listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange since March 2007, making it the first such company from China to list in Hong Kong.
Since opening its doors in 1996, Ajisen (China) has earned a reputation for offering Japanese noodles and dishes of the best quality in its class. Leveraging its strength in a standardized and industrialized operation, the Company has been able to achieve rapid growth and the Ajisen brand was quickly turned into a household name in the region. As at the end of March 2010, the Group has a network of 420 stores in prime locations across key cities such as Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Fuzhou, Dalian, Hangzhou and Nanjing, with annual turnover of HK$1.986 billion in 2009. To enhance the support for its far reaching network of restaurants, the Group has set up its own manufacturing and processing facilities in Shanghai, Shenzhen, Beijing, Qingdao, Chengdu, Kunming, Guiyang and Hong Kong.
In addition to restaurant operation, Ajisen (China) is also engaged in the business of manufacturing and selling packaged noodles. With more than 7,500 points of sales, its distribution network covers over 30 major cities. The products are also exported to countries including Singapore, Japan and Australia.
With a wide variety of quality Japanese noodles and dishes on offer, the Group has been successful in building a strong following of customers while firmly establishing Ajisen as a name that stands for quality foods that are both healthy and delicious.
Nationally, Ajisen (China) has put in place a comprehensive management system to ensure its high standards in food quality, food safety and service are maintained throughout the operation. The Group's products have received QS (Quality Safety) certificates from China's Quality Certification Centre while the manufacturing and processing facilities in Shanghai and Shenzhen have been accredited by international standards ISO 9001:2000 and HACCP.
The Ajisen (China) story won greater recognition in 2008 when Forbes magazine named it as one of “Asia’s 200 Best Under A Billion” and ranked it 13th place among “The Chinese Enterprises with Best Potential”, making it the highest ranked restaurant chain operator on the list.
